(The Gazette) - Two jewelry stores were robbed within four hours Friday in Colorado Springs, police say. About noon, two men entered a jewelry store in the 5700 block of Constitution Avenue, police said. One of the robbers was armed with a handgun. A fight broke out during the robbery, and one person was injured by one of the robbers, police said. The robbers fled south into a residential neighborhood with the jewelry they had taken, and the victim was taken to a hospital with severe injuries that weren't life-threatening. Shortly before 4 p.m., four men armed with handguns entered a jewelry store in the 1700 block of East Woodmen Road, police said. The robbers broke display cases and took jewelry before fleeing east. Detectives are working to determine if the robberies are connected.  |

(KKTV) - Police posted pictures of three people to social media on Tuesday in hopes the public could help identify the trio of suspected jewelry thieves. The robbery happened on Jan. 17 in Colorado Springs at the Benet Hill Monastery-sisters Thrift and Boutique near North Union and Research Parkway. One of the suspects is described as a Hispanic or Native American woman, about 40 to 50 years old with dark hair. Another suspect is believed to be a white woman with red hair who was wearing a blue baseball cap at the time of the crime. The third suspect is only described by authorities as a white man, late teens or early 20s, with short hair. The three were caught on surveillance entering the store as they showed interest in a piece of jewelry. Two suspects reportedly distracted the sales staff while the third reached into the display case and snatched a gold necklace worth about $5,000.
