As the summer wraps up and you're slowly putting your bathing suits into storage for the wintertime, one amazing thing has come out of the end of the season: Sephora's annual Summer Bonus event. That's right, the entire store is on sale right now — but only if you have attained VIB or Rouge status, so, unfortunately, Beauty Insider members will have to wait until next year. (The top two tiers of its Beauty Insider program can be achieved by spending $350 or $1,000 per calendar year, respectively.)

So, what exactly is the sale? Rouge shoppers can enjoy a whopping 20 percent off the entire store, while VIB status members can enjoy 15 percent off. These discounts can be applied both online (with the code SUMMERSAVE) and in store, and you can shop as many times as you like before the sale ends on August 27. So that means you can keep going back time after time when you remember that you want more items. After all, one's beauty closet can never get too crowded.

Before you start loading up your cart, there are a few caveats to your Sephora sale shopping. But don't worry — we're here to help. The discount cannot be used on anything from The Ordinary, and per transaction, you can only buy one Dyson item, three Tatcha products, three Drunk Elephant items, and five of anything from Morphe. (All the more reason to shop multiple times before the end of the sale.)

So now that you know all of the juicy details, what will you be dropping your coin on? If you need some shelfie inspiration, check out our recommendations below:

From Korean ice cream to trendy clothes and beauty products: 5 new stores opening at Ontario Mills - Inland Valley Daily Bulletin

Posted: 20 Aug 2019 04:48 PM PDT

Who said retail is dead?

Not at the Ontario Mills shopping and outlet mall.

The massive retail space is adding five new stores, including Sephora, a well-known beauty brand that will place a West Coast store in an outlet shopping center for the first time. In addition, Reebok, Cole Haan, Charlotte Russe and Somi Somi are opening stores at Ontario Mills by early September.

"We are constantly diversifying and introducing exciting national brands to deliver on Ontario Mills' reputation as a world-class shopping destination," said Marc Smith, general manager at Ontario Mills, in a prepared statement.

Smith said the five new stores target both local shoppers and tourists in what has become known as a retail shopping experience sought out by potential customers.

Many smaller retail outlets used the 105,000-square-foot space that had been occupied by a J.C. Penney Outlet store three years ago, adding to the trend of smaller, brick-and-mortar stores that offer unique products not readily found online.

"What's called brick-and-mortar retail is not going away, but it is going to morph into smaller and more specialized stores that feature the shopping experience where customers can try on or 'test-drive' products," Jay Prag, professor of economics and finance at the Drucker School of Management at Claremont Graduate University, told this newspaper in 2016.

New stores set to open by early September are:

• Sephora: beauty, fragrance products and exclusive brands. The store is at Entry 8 near H&M.

• Reebok Outlet: Shoes, activewear, other clothing and accessories. The store is located near Ulta Beauty.

• Cole Haan Outlet: Dress and casual footwear and accessories. It has opened ahead of schedule, located near H&M.

• Charlotte Russe: Women's fashion retailer trying to make a comeback, offering trendy clothes, shoes and accessories. Located at Entry 5 near Forever 21.

• Somi Somi: A Korean dessert emporium. One of the featured dishes is known as "Ah-Boong," a waffle cone filled with ice cream and toppings. The store will be located near Entry 5 by Forever 21.

Glossier is opening a pop-up makeup shop in Boston - The Boston Globe

Posted: 30 Jul 2019 12:00 AM PDT

Glossier, the cult-favorite makeup brand whose products have graced the faces of Beyonce, Michelle Obama, and Tracee Ellis Ross, is opening a pop-up store in Boston's Seaport in August.

The store — which will operate from Aug. 7 through Oct. 4 at 85 Northern Ave. — is notable due to a key part of Glossier's brand: most consumers can only order products online.

The Boston store will be open Monday-Sunday from 11 a.m. through 7 p.m., a Glossier representative said. All Glossier products will be available to test and shop.

The Glossier brand differs from several other popular makeup lines in one key factor: Its original formulas are meant to achieve a more minimalistic "no makeup" look, focusing on highlighting the wearer's skin rather than caked-on pigment.

"Skin first, makeup second," the brand's Instagram page boasts in its description.

Some of the brand's products, including its signature lip gloss and eyebrow gel, have achieved cult status through word-of-mouth, and beauty influencers on YouTube have racked up millions of views reviewing the products, which are not widely available in stores.

The brand has also cheekily referenced its ads around Boston.

The brand, however, hasn't been without its criticism. Some knocked Glossier for its initial shade range, which skewed toward offering more options in lighter tones.

"I'm the color 'dark,' " Canadian influencer Samantha Ravndahl, who is white, said of the brand's foundation in a video review posted in April 2018. "So if that doesn't tell you something about Glossier's shade range, I don't know what will."

The brand has since expanded its color offerings to be more inclusive, and also renamed the tints from words like "light" and "dark" to a more neutral convention, with shades ranging from G1 to G12.

Others have taken issue with the brand's sheer coverage, saying that only those with clear, unbroken skin can confidently wear the products.

Glossier debuted in 2014. Since then, the company has launched 34 products, raised more than $186 million in venture capital funding, opened two permanent stores in New York and Los Angeles, and brought temporary retail to six cities, including Miami and Seattle, a representative said in an e-mail to the Globe.
