Fourth of July Sales 2019: Best Beauty Deals to Shop Online - Allure Magazine

Posted: 03 Jul 2019 09:26 AM PDT

The Fourth of July holiday is almost here, which means it's time to get ready for fireworks, barbecues, and yes, shopping. To celebrate the long weekend, many beauty and fashion brands are having some incredible sales for you to find deals on your favorite products or even discover something new. Many sales last throughout the weekend, so you can shop for a few days (or just cram it all into one shopping-filled afternoon session, if that's more your style). Sounds pretty hard to pass up, no?

Of course, we don't want you working too hard during your time off, so we've rounded up several of the best deals for you — including from our favorites like Benefit Cosmetics, Tatcha, Sol de Janeiro, and more. It's the perfect time to shop for your must-have skin-care, makeup, and hair-care products on a budget. Make sure to bookmark this page and check back as the sales continue to trickle in.

What is in the Fortnite item shop today? Available skins and cosmetics for July 3 - The Sun

Posted: 03 Jul 2019 05:09 AM PDT

FORTNITE has sent gamers across the world into a frenzy.

While the game is free to play, customising your Battle Royale character costs money and the Fortnite shop has a range of skins and cosmetics on offer.

Fortnite has become a global sensation

Fortnite has become a global sensationCredit: Epic Games

What is in the Fortnite item shop for today?

The most expensive item in today's list is the Shadow Ops skin, which is on sale for V1,500.

You can buy three different emotes today; the Smooth Moves for V800 and new hand signals and the Pumpernickel for V500 a pop.

The Scorpion outfit, which is fairly uncommon, is going for V800 right now.

A Spectral Axe will also set you back V800 if you buy it today.

What is the Fortnite items shop and what's in it?

The item shop is an online store where players can purchase cosmetic objects to use in-game.

It includes outfits, gliders, harvesting tools and other accessories priced according to the rarity: Uncommon, rare, epic or legendary.

Gamers use V-Bucks, which can be purchased for real life money, to pay for the items which have their own expiry dates on the store.

What is Fortnite and does the video game have an age rating certificate?

Fortnite is a video game played by up to 250 million people across the world.

In it, 100 players compete on their own or with a small group of pals to grab weapons, gather resources and build defences, before fighting it out to be the last man (or team) standing.

Matches take about 20 minutes, and you can drop into a new game within seconds of your previous one finishing.

It's bright, it's cartoony and it's fiendishly compelling.

Skill is rewarded but luck also plays a huge role, meaning no two games are ever the same and everyone feels like they have a chance of winning.

Fortnite has also made its developer billions.

In Europe it's rated 12+, meaning it's suitable for those aged 12 and up.

The battle royale mode is free to play, but there is also a story-driven single player and co-op mode called Save The World that players have to pay for.

How many children play Fortnite and what are the concerns?

While there is no exact figure on how many children play Fortnite, the game has so far pulled in an audience of over 200 million.

Many parents are concerned about the harmful effects that the long-playing duration and violent content is having on their children.

Once you're playing, the urge for just one more round and one more shot at victory can easily become overwhelming.
It's big money too -- the best players will be fighting for a share of £30m over the next few months alone.

Not even Premier League stars are immune, with pros seeking treatment for 'addiction'.

There is now an online tool to help determine if your game-playing is normal or is edging towards the official definition of gaming disorder.

Children as young as 11 are reportedly being taken into care as a result of the disorder, while other parents have reported the troubling effects of compulsive gaming on their own children.

Adults have reported problems too, with one revealing he wrecked his life after blowing £15,000 of wedding savings on video games.

A Vogue Korea Beauty Editor's Guide to Seoul, South Korea - New York Magazine

It's commonly understood that the best way to explore a new place is to go straight to the locals. Each week in the Urbanist, we take that wisdom one step further by seeking out not just locals but local experts — those who are especially well versed in their cities' newest and most noteworthy scenes — to give us insider tips. This week, we asked Zoohyun Lee, beauty director at Vogue Korea, for her recommendations in South Korea's capital city.

"Seoul is definitely one of the trendiest cities in Asia. There is plenty to do in Seoul all year round, but I recommend spring and autumn as the best times to visit. Summer months can be hot and humid, and winter is cold and icy. Seoul is a unique destination for various reasons. The area of Dongdaemun offers 24-hour shopping, which is ideal for fashion and beauty fans. Korea is also known for its healthy food and, of course, the K-beauty boom. The keywords for K-beauty are 'cheap and chic' — the idea behind K-beauty is to be practical yet work effectively, so I am not surprised that the products are so appealing to Western consumers as well. I highly recommend 'one day, one sheet' masks — the difference they make to your skin is incredible."

Ulta Beauty's Jumbo Love Sale Is Happening Now — Shop Large Shampoos and Conditioners - Allure Magazine

Posted: 03 Jul 2019 10:56 AM PDT

The days are warm and long, the flowers are blooming, and the birds are chirping, and you know what that means — sure, it's summer, but more importantly, it's sale season. Specifically, it's time for the Ulta Jumbo Love Sale, a promotion that features large sizes of the beauty retailer's top-selling shampoos and conditioners at up to 50 percent off. But while summer is months long and just getting started, the Jumbo Love sale began on June 30 and lasts only until July 27, so make sure you have your priorities in order.

OK, yes, fine, you don't have to skip all of your summer barbecues to stock up these tress-friendly products, because Ulta is making this easy. The sale is happening both in stores and online, so if you play your cards right, you can celebrate both summer and Ulta's sale without having to pick just one. Trust me, your hair will thank you, because there are some major brands included in this event. We're talking major savings on fan-favorite brands like Paul Mitchell, Ouidad, Pureology, Matrix, and Redken, all in sizes that will be sudsing up your shower routine for months to come.

Not sure where to start with this embarrassment of riches? Why not right at the top, with the top-selling product from Ulta's most-popular hair-care line. That would be the Matrix Biolage Colorlast Shampoo, which is currently $16 for 34 ounces, down from $28. The shine-boosting formula helps strengthen strands, maintain deep, vivid color, and is paired with the Matrix Biolage Colorlast Conditioner, which is also on sale — for $16, down from $30.

Or maybe your head is more turned by the Redken All Soft Shampoo, which comes in at a close second on the bestseller's list. The soothing and smoothing formula is infused with superfoods like cactus extract, aloe vera, and Sacha Inchi Oil, and you can snag it for a limited time for $20 instead of the usual $37. Pa. woman ruled incompetent for trial in brutal beauty shop killing - PennLive

A Pa. woman on the run in Florida has escaped justice in the brutal beauty shop killing of a colleague – at least for now.

As WPXI-TV in Pittsburgh and the NBC affiliate in Jacksonville, Florida, report, Butler County, Pa., native Kimberly Kessler, who has 18 aliases and has been on the run for years, has been ruled incompetent for trial despite being charged with first-degree murder in the killing of Joleen Cummings.

Both worked at the same Jacksonville area beauty shop, where witnesses say there were tensions between the younger, prettier Cummings and Kessler.

Cummings, 34, a mother of three young children, disappeared on Mother's Day weekend in 2018 -- and her body was never found. She was reported missing by her ex-husband.

Despite that, prosecutors contend there is a mountain of evidence against Kessler in the case – evidence that now may never see the light of day at trial.

Here are highlights of the case, as reported by WPXI and their Jacksonville affiliate:

Despite Kessler being the sole suspect in Cummings' killing, a judge this week sided with her doctors – and against Nassau County prosecutors who had their own doctor examine Kessler – in ruling her incompetent to stand trial for murder in the case.

It is uncertain what the next move from prosecutors will be. They contend the evidence against Kessler is very strong, including:

  • A self-checkout video of Kessler appearing to buy an electric knife, trash bags, gloves and ammonia at a local Walmart.
  • Large blood stains, brought out by luminol tests, inside the Tangles hair salon, where Kessler and Cummings had worked, including on the wall, floor, base of a salon chair can be seen in photos. Detectives also focused on a bloody mop.
  • Police found the following inside Kessler's Kia Soul the night she was arrested: More than $1,600 in cash, a Bible, black gorilla tape, eight journals and religious booklets.
  • There was also a passport in the car under the alias "Jennifer Sybert." Investigators say Kessler previously used up to 18 different names.
  • Kessler, who disappeared from Butler County in 2004 and was reported missing by her family, admitted she "had been running from the FBI for 25 years and was wanted in several states."

Now it appears Kessler, 51, who at last report remained in custody, will go on eluding answering justice's call in this case for the foreseeable future.
